The Shure N91E needle stylus is the original made-in-US Stereo Dynetic phonograph stylus that is used with the Shure M91E and Shure M93E phono cartridges. It was discontinued many years ago and is offered as new old stock.
Many Shure cartridge enthusiasts prefer the sound quality and performance of the US manufactured Shure N91E stylus over the later made-in-Mexico Shure 91ED stylus. Physically, the made-in-US Shure N91E stylus has a thin tube alloy cantilever, much thinner than the one used in the later made-in-Mexico Shure N91ED stylus. That is the likely reason why there is a sound quality difference and why some listeners prefer the Shure N91E.
