78 RPM Cartridges

78 RPM Cartridges

For correct playback fidelity of your 78 RPM records you need to use a cartridge with stylus designed for 78 RPM records. A very common misconception is that you can use a LP stylus for playing 78 records. This is one quick and sure way to damage the 78 record groove. Playing it once is enough. Moreover, the LP stylus is much narrower than the 78 record groove hence the tip will slip to the bottom of the groove where debris has collected for many decades. This results in extraordinarily high surface noise. The LP stylus also sways on either side of the groove wall or misses the groove wall where the sound was recorded. All in all, it's not good for the 78 RPM record, for your LP stylus, and for listening. For these reasons, it really makes very good sense to use a 78 RPM cartridge for your 78's.

lower volume output?

Is this cartridge’s output volume considerably lower than of a say, shure m-44? i’m experience a good sound overall, pretty much what i was expecting, but at a much lower volume. i’m having to increase around 25-30% the knob to achieve similar results.
any comments will be much appreciated.
thanks!

"Bonded" version ?

I received the JICO replacement Shure VN-35E stylus for V15 Type III Series cartridge.
The sound produced by the stylus is excellent.
I regret, however, that there is no indication on your site that this is the "Bonded" version of the Stylus and not the "Nude" version also produced by Jico. I deduced this information from research I had to do on other companies' sites. I like to know exactly what I usually buy without having to guess.

Mitsubishi LT-5V 3 replacement belts

So glad you were able to provide the 3 belts for my 1983 Mitsubishi linear tracking turntable. They were shipped promptly and arrived in great condition. Now this classic turntable works great except I have to find a replacement tonearm lightbulb so tracking error problem gets fixed.
