LP GEAR Z MAT

The LP Gear Z Mat uses 2.1 mm of special felt intertwined with zillions of air particles for superior isolation. ANTI-SKATING WEIGHT FOR TURNTABLE TONEARM

As the record rotates, its momentum with the stylus tip on the record grooves will pull the phono cartridge towards the spindle. The anti-skating mechanism within the tonearm is designed to counter this externally generated force. The proper application of anti-skating is designed to:

• Allow the stylus tip to correctly trace record grooves for optimal sound quality without a right or left channel bias.
• Minimize wear in the inner walls of the track.

How to Adjust Anti-Skating Force
Anti-skating should be adjusted only after cartridge alignment and tracking force have been set. During phono cartridge alignment, the anti-skating force should be set to zero.

1) Set the anti-skating on the first notch.

2) Select a stereo LP record of choice, preferably one that you are very familiar with. Place this on the platter and switch the turntable to play.

3) Listen to the LP. When the anti-skating is too low, the left channel will dominate in terms of volume and detail.

4) Increase the anti-skating to the next notch. Listen again. Repeat step. You will reach a point where the right and and left channel will sound equally expressive, open and dynamic. You will know that you have reached the correct anti-skating force only when you have exceeded it. This will be manifested sonically by a sudden deterioration in sound quality. Then you adjust anti-skating to the previous notch.

AUDIO-TECHNICA AT615 PRECISION LEVEL FROM JAPAN

With the Audio-Technica AT615 you can level turntables, CD, DVD and Blu-ray players and equipment racks. It is important to level for rotational speed consistency and tracing accuracy.

Housed in a 36 mm diameter polished machined aluminum cylinder, the AT615 spirit level is both accurate and very easy to use. Place it on the center and four corners and level each shelve. Then level the equipment.

BLU-TACK COUPLING & DAMPING COMPOUND

BLU-TACK is a tacky, flexible, resistive damping compound typically used in audio as coupling between speakers and stands. It is primarily used between the bottom of the speakers and the top plate of the stands. The mechanical coupling is similar to the results obtained with spikes but without the the scratch and damage. Additionally, since BLU-TACK adheres to both surfaces, this serves as excellent speaker protection from shifting or worse (falling from the stands) if knocked.

The BLU-TACK coupling can be removed by rotating the speaker on the stand. It can be reused. BLU-TACK has many other uses such as holding up posters, cards or photos on a wall. It holds parts while soldering, holds screws to the tip of a screwdriver, even create art, etc. One package is enough to do many pairs of loudspeakers.
