Cartridge Saver

I purchased the stylus assembly to repair a Clearaudio Aurum Beta S. I thought I would need to cut away the plastic surround to get to the grip. It was not necessary to do this as the entire stylus assembly fit the Aurum Beta body perfectly. It snapped right in place and I was playing tunes in a few minutes. Happy. Not real sure it sounds the exact same as original since it has been six months since the original gave up.

Sounds great, with a caveat...

As the title suggests, this stylus sounds very good. But it is lacking in the very highest registers (tinkling sleighbells, watch chimes, etc). Until it is inserted into a 66 series or one of its many clones, then that upper register comes alive. Empire made 2000s with at least 2 different electrical specs, those around 500 ohms impedance, and those around 1000 ohms. The 1000 ohms models suffer high treble loss, while the lower inductance/impedance models do not.

search for genuine ORTOFON replacement easy, order/payment a breeze, shipped quick and arrived on time. went with a genuine ORTOFON for my vintage dual changer . Just acquired a beautiful restored yamaha cr-1020 receiver; system sounded like crap so I rewired the speakers (stacked large advents). big improvement but then the highs were thin scratchy and poorly defined, hence the new stylus. now it's starting to really sound like something. i'll give you a detailed review of the stylus after I've listened to more of the records. they all sound different now.

Mom’s old cartridge is alive!!

I wanted to restore my mom’s old Shure RXT-4 (Radio Shack version of the M97ED) and this stylus is just perfect!! I never imagined how beautiful this cartridge with this stylus could sound! Warm mellow melodies for Jazz and Classical! Very well balanced!! Love it! I pair it with my Technics SL-1200Mk2 and SL-D2
