VN45HE JICO SAS ZIRCONIA HG (HIGH GRADE) UPGRADE STYLUS REPLACEMENT FOR SHURE VN45HE STYLUS

In the process of developing the "SETO-HORI" ceramic cartridge, which was launched in 2018, JICO found that material hardness is an important factor for determining sound quality. When researching for applicable materials, JICO finally decided on Zirconia. Since the mass of zirconia is larger than that of other materials often used as cantilevers, such as boron, JICO first reduced the mass by processing the cantilever into a hollow pipe shape. Moreover, they succeeded in suppressing split resonance and reducing the effective mass as seen from the tip of the stylus by covering the joint pipe to the middle of the surface of the cantilever. This covering also makes the cantilever close to tapered shape which is ideal.

As a result, JICO ultimately created the clear and precise sound, which was totally different from the preceding other cantilevers’ lineup (aluminum, boron, sapphire, and ruby). A very common misconception is that you can use an LP stylus for playing 78 RPM records. This is one quick and sure way to damage the 78 RPM record grooves. To maintain the playback fidelity of your 78 record, you really need to use a stylus designed for 78 RPM records, otherwise with just a single playing, you could ruin the fidelity of the record grooves. Moreover, the LP stylus is much narrower than the 78 RPM record groove hence the tip will slide to the bottom of the groove where debris has collected for many decades.
