MICHAEL FREMER'S IT'S A VINYL WORLD, AFTER ALL (DVD)

Learn turntable set-up and the best ways to handle, store, clean and care for your valuable records from noted analog expert and leading authority Michael Fremer. Fremer is a senior contributing editor at Stereophile Magazine and publishes the online Music Angle. He is the No. 1 vinyl authority in the audio world and had been asked by readers for many years to develop a video guide for setting up a quality turntable and tonearm. The guide, with a running time of 3 hours 9:39 minutes, is both exhaustive and succinct.

Tour the famous Diepolz, Germany Pallas pressing plant with Fremer and see how they plate lacquers and press records at Europe's premier pressing plant. Then visit Record Technology Incorporated (RTI) and see how America's best record manufacturer does it. Eavesdrop on a mastering session with Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman at famed AcousTech Mastering, the world's only mastering room located within a pressing plant. Additional interviews with RTI's Don MacInnis and Pallas's Holger Neummann. Includes PDF file on the DVD-ROM section containing more useful information.

Shot in high definition and released on DVD in a letter-boxed format, this DVD is even more informative and entertaining than Fremer's first highly acclaimed DVD "21st Century Vinyl: Michael Fremer's Practical Guide to Turntable Set-Up." If you enjoyed, appreciated and laughed along with the first one, you'll love this one from the opening minute.

The little stylus that could..and then some!

When I got this I thought I had overspent and had just paid 150 bucks for the 70 dollar model with a stylus guard. I was hoping for the best, expecting mehh, and got the closest to sonic nirvana I've yet to experience! I am simply a music lover, I haven't the experience or the budget to be an audiophile , but wow this little cartridge can sing! I have the carbon fidelity, the nss divine, this is noticeably better even to my untrained ears. If you are using the at3600 cartridge, strongly consider this stylus before you change to a different cartridge. It really is that good!

New Belt

Turntable belt fits perfectly as described!

Soundesign stylus Mdel 6821

Stylus fit, the weight was light i ended up having to use a similar stylus that was heavier and for an Emerson.
The lighter stylus allowed the arm to float across the album.

Works good

D51 type stylus works fine

Looks & Sounds like the Original

Arrived well packed although I was concerned that it didn’t have the little cover over the needle that a new stylus often has. But once installed it sounded good!

Thorens Replacement Belt

Belt is more robust than old belt. Highly recommended.

Giant Killer

If you have an OM body, base or Super, you owe it to yourself to get this stylus. It plays WAY above its price range! I am still breaking it in, but wow! On new vinyl it is dead quiet. No pops, background noise or hisses. Plays music from top to bottom without me missing any midrange.
I have 3 different versions of these, shure n75ed2, at 3600l, now this ortofon version which could become my favorite. Buy these and get a good phono stage ( I am using an old nad 7140) and stop worrying about expensive cartridges! An absolute jem!
