LP GEAR CERAPREME 78 STYLUS

The LP GEAR Cerapreme 78 stylus features a precision 3.0 mil highly polished diamond designed specifically for the correct tracing of 78 RPM records. Uplifted by a thin wall aluminum alloy cantilever, the Cerapreme 78 stylus summons the notes from the contour of 78 RPM grooves with exquisite musical expressiveness.

A very common misconception is that you can use a LP stylus for playing 78 RPM records. This is one quick and sure way to damage the 78 RPM record grooves. To maintain the playback fidelity of your 78 record, you really need to use a stylus designed for 78 RPM records, otherwise with just a single playing, you could ruin the fidelity of the record grooves. Moreover, the LP stylus is much narrower than the 78 RPM record groove hence the tip will slide to the bottom of the groove where debris has collected for many decades. This results in extraordinarily high-surface noise.

For the best 33.3/45 RPM stylus refer to the Cerapreme Blue stylus within Related Products.

Very good 78 RPM stylus

The LP Gear Cerapreme 78 stylus brings the most out of the CEC/Chuo Denshi type ceramic cartridge for 78 RPM reproduction. If you put this stylus into a real Japanese CEC cartridge in a serious turntable, you end up with a very nice 78 reproducer. If you put it in a little Numark PT01, it makes for a very nice portable player for 78s. At its current price, this stylus is hard to beat.

Better than I thought

This JICO nude elliptical stylus is super good. I replaced the stylus on my Shure M44-7 which is more of a DJ cartridge and I didn't care much for a conical/spherical one that was on it. Everyone I talked to about a change recommended the N55 for it. It was a little pricey, and usually I'll buy a new cartridge instead of chance something I'm not familiar with, but I bit the bullet and ordered the N55 from the recommendations. To my surprise, it's one of the better sounding carts I have and that's saying a lot as I use Grado and Ortofon both in MM, and a Denon MC cart. Even not broken in, I was really impressed with it. So much so, I may resurrect my on M99E that's on one of my Dual's with a Jico nude stylus. This JICO stylus I bought is on my vintage Pioneer PL 518.

ViVid Line replacement for Shure m97xe cartridge

The stylus is amazing. The original stylus needed some adjustments. It was a bit harsh in the mid to higher. The new ViVid Line is awesome. No need to EQ needed. Everything pops out and doesn't cause fatigue. Nice lows, mids, and highs. If you what to replace/ update you Shure m97xe, this is it. Maybe a bit pricey but well worth it.
