JICO SETO-HORI MC CERAMIC PHONO CARTRIDGE

The SETO-HORI MC ceramic cartridge is hand-crafted in Japan with artful expertise to achieve optimized fidelity. The micro-ridge diamond's polyhedral shape reaches into the deepest recesses of the record groove to retrieve details previously inaccessible to other styli. This shape extends the lifespan of the stylus by reducing diamond and record wear. The boron cantilever provides a low mass and extreme efficiency of transmissions and vibrations. The base connected to the ceramic SETO-HORI cartridge is made of natural walnut wood.

“Kata-Tori” (mold making) and “Yaki-ire” (burning) are key processes for ceramic-ware. One of the problems with ceramic is shrinkage, which is why it has been said ceramic-ware is not suitable for cartridge bodies. JICO collaborated with a laboratory in the city Seto to study the shrinkage of ceramic pottery. The result is in the final process, JICO craftsmen finely adjust the ceramic body thus creating the one of a kind SETO-HORI cartridge.

Excellent Cartridge!

This cartridge looks awesome!
I installed it with ease. Alignment may be a bit of a challenge as the front end of the cartridge is oval, but not a too big issue.
Crucial is the adjustment of your gain and load on your phonostage. This cartridge has a high output and significant high-end. If you listen to rock music or electronic music, this will shine! however, classical music, especially piano, is not well reproduced and saturates if you keep the gain and load at their highest settings. Low gain and load and the sound is muffled. So don't be afraid to tune up patiently and precisely with those settings, and this cartridge will highly rewards you!.
I think that this cartridge requires more hours to break in and to perform at its best, but already now i can hear how precise and clear it sounds compared to my previous Ortofon MC red Quintet. Definitely an upgrade.
Highly recommended

The little stylus that could..and then some!

When I got this I thought I had overspent and had just paid 150 bucks for the 70 dollar model with a stylus guard. I was hoping for the best, expecting mehh, and got the closest to sonic nirvana I've yet to experience! I am simply a music lover, I haven't the experience or the budget to be an audiophile , but wow this little cartridge can sing! I have the carbon fidelity, the nss divine, this is noticeably better even to my untrained ears. If you are using the at3600 cartridge, strongly consider this stylus before you change to a different cartridge. It really is that good!

Turntable belt fits perfectly as described!

Soundesign stylus Mdel 6821

Stylus fit, the weight was light i ended up having to use a similar stylus that was heavier and for an Emerson.
The lighter stylus allowed the arm to float across the album.

D51 type stylus works fine

Looks & Sounds like the Original

Arrived well packed although I was concerned that it didn’t have the little cover over the needle that a new stylus often has. But once installed it sounded good!

Thorens Replacement Belt

Belt is more robust than old belt. Highly recommended.

Giant Killer

If you have an OM body, base or Super, you owe it to yourself to get this stylus. It plays WAY above its price range! I am still breaking it in, but wow! On new vinyl it is dead quiet. No pops, background noise or hisses. Plays music from top to bottom without me missing any midrange.
I have 3 different versions of these, shure n75ed2, at 3600l, now this ortofon version which could become my favorite. Buy these and get a good phono stage ( I am using an old nad 7140) and stop worrying about expensive cartridges! An absolute jem!
