AUDIO-TECHNICA AT-OC9XSH MOVING COIL CARTRIDGE
- The Antepenultimate OC9X - when the next best does it for you.

The antepenultimate AT-OC9XSH offers the sound reproduction accuracy plus nuanced delicacy that is the hallmark of the Shibata diamond stylus utilized by AT-OC9SH.

Since their introduction more than 30 years ago, Audio-Technica’s AT-OC9 Series moving coil (MC) phono cartridges have been acclaimed by listeners and reviewers worldwide for their exceptional sound quality and musical transparency. At HIGH-END Munich 2019, Audio-Technica is introducing its AT-OC9X Series, the fourth generation of this legendary range of cartridges.

"When the first AT-OC9 cartridge was introduced in 1987 it integrated previously unavailable engineering innovations with carefully chosen materials to achieve a breakthrough in sound quality," said Yosuke Koizumi, Chief Engineer of Cartridges at Audio-Technica Japan. "Since then, we have continued to improve the cartridges. Our latest AT-OC9X Series embodies the culmination of over 50 years of cartridge manufacturing experience to deliver new levels of record-playback quality and musical enjoyment." Each OC9X model features a host of improvements including a new Dual Moving Coil structure, which enables the audio information in the record grooves to be separated to the left and right channels with pinpoint accuracy. This improved channel separation results in a more precise stereo image and wider frequency response. AT-OC9X Series cartridges are available with a choice of stylus types including Special Line Contact (AT-OC9XSL), Shibata (AT-OC9XSH), microlinear (AT-OC9XML), nude elliptical (AT-OC9XEN) and bonded elliptical (AT- OC9XEB). The Special Line Contact, microlinear, and Shibata stylus models have been upgraded with a boron cantilever, while the nude elliptical and elliptical cartridges feature an aluminum cantilever. These materials were carefully selected to keep unwanted vibrations to a minimum and to reduce internal resonances for clearer, more detailed audio reproduction.

Stylus for Pickering V-15/ATE-3 cartridge
James Whitaker (Honolulu, US)
The exact right stylus

I needed a stylus for a vintage Pickering. Perfect fit, great performance. Yeah for durable goods!

Had the needle for my 35yr old phonograph. Amazing thank you.

Sounds great, with a caveat...

As the title suggests, this stylus sounds very good. But it is lacking in the very highest registers (tinkling sleighbells, watch chimes, etc). Until it is inserted into a 66 series or one of its many clones, then that upper register comes alive. Empire made 2000s with at least 2 different electrical specs, those around 500 ohms impedance, and those around 1000 ohms. The 1000 ohms models suffer high treble loss, while the lower inductance/impedance models do not.

ORTOFON DUAL DN-150E STYLUS

search for genuine ORTOFON replacement easy, order/payment a breeze, shipped quick and arrived on time. went with a genuine ORTOFON for my vintage dual changer . Just acquired a beautiful restored yamaha cr-1020 receiver; system sounded like crap so I rewired the speakers (stacked large advents). big improvement but then the highs were thin scratchy and poorly defined, hence the new stylus. now it's starting to really sound like something. i'll give you a detailed review of the stylus after I've listened to more of the records. they all sound different now.

So far so good

Just got it and it sounds really nice.

Mom’s old cartridge is alive!!

I wanted to restore my mom’s old Shure RXT-4 (Radio Shack version of the M97ED) and this stylus is just perfect!! I never imagined how beautiful this cartridge with this stylus could sound! Warm mellow melodies for Jazz and Classical! Very well balanced!! Love it! I pair it with my Technics SL-1200Mk2 and SL-D2
