I purchased a Dual 1249 that had a Pickering XV-15 cartridge installed. And it was equipped with an original D-400 stylus which still sounded really good but I wanted to have a fresh stylus to see how well this moving iron cartridge really sounds with a fresh stylus. And at first inspection I was a little concerned, the cantilever had a weld that was a little sloppy compared to the original. But after installing the new stylus I was completely blown away with how good this stylus and Pickering cartridge sounds. I have realized that todays build quality is not as good as they were when they were being mass produced. And am very thankful that anyone is even making new styli for these old cartridges. Also, the whole purchasing experience through Lp Tunes was flawless and I couldn’t be more satisfied. From placing the order to receiving the stylus. Will definitely be using LP Tunes for all my future turntable bits and bobs.
